From the Cruz de fierro I continued my journey to Molina Seca.

Day 5th- From Rabanal del Camino to Molina Seca
Today was one of the most challenging days. From Rabanal I walked up the hill to the next town -Foncebadon. It was the home of the 12th century hermit Gaucelmo who built a church and Pilgrim hospital there. In recent years there has been a lot of renovation of abandoned houses and of the main street.
It takes awhile to walk to an elevation of 1,504 meters, (4,934 feet) above sea level to Cruz de Ferro.
Cruz de Ferro is a place where Pilgrims seem to take time to honor their journey, or the “journey” of loved ones. I added a stone that I picked up along the camino. Other pilgrims bring the stonefrom home or other token of love and blessing to the base of the cross or to the great pile that “witnesses” our journey.

Day 4 Rabanal del Camino
Rabanal is a small town in the foothills, there is a Benedictan monastery I could not visit the monastery because
the monks were gone this day.
From Astorga to Rabanal del Camino- Day 4
From Astorga I walked to Rabanal del camino around 20 miles uphill - beautiful scenary. It rained for about 30 minutes after Astorga.

The Episcopal Palace was designed by Spanish architect, Antoni GaudÃ, and finished in 1913. Beautiful city.
